Retreat from the rush, the deadlines and demands and rejuvenate mind, body, and soul!
Alchemy Retreat is a newly launched, picture-perfect Little-Karoo self-catering farm, right out of a South African storybook.
Just a little more than 2 hours from Cape Town, this 100-year-old homestead, barn and bunkhouse personifies authentic karoo life. Flanked by the towering Langeberg and splendid Swartberg mountains, 5km’s off the R62, the longest wine route in the world, between Montagu and Barrydale.
The fresh country air is imbued with the perfume of wild rosemary, punctuated by the bleating of the sheep and the early morning alarm of the resident rooster, Alchemy Retreat greets you with wide open arms.
Set on a spacious 248 hectares, this piece of heaven on earth, shares an Eastern border with Sanbona nature reserve, featuring the Big-Five.
Retreat to the countryside and soak up the crisp country air, lazy sleepy siestas, intermittent dips in our Kol-Kol (wood-fired hot tub) or simply navel gaze – entranced by the picturesque and infinite vista from the stoep. Relish the wide-open spaces, dazzling night skies, refreshing dam water, and inspiring nature walks. Our dam is perpetually alive with plentiful birdlife and stretches lazily into the horizon in perfect fusion with our spectacular sunsets. A bird-watchers utopia!
The Manor House is welcoming no matter the season, with ceiling fans for Summer and toasty fireplaces in the chill of Winter. The grand old dame comfortably accommodates 8, with room to
spare. Two farm style kitchens, one with an original Aga stove, make for happy spaces to prepare your sumptuous or simple Karoo feasts.
Two bedrooms are en-suite the remaining two share a bathroom.
The lounge / dining area is double volume, open plan and boasts views from every viewpoint. A central fireplace and a library of delightful games and books complete your comforts.
A generous hallway with tranquil reading corner is the perfect space for yoga, meditation, hobbies, or soaking up that long-awaited novel.
This homestead is comfortable, yet unpretentious and has retained it’s old-world charm, but remains stylish and features modern comforts. No Wi-Fi is available. Cell phone reception is within
a short walk down the dusty road.
